





Riding for the Horse: Beginner Course
Get to know Hideaway in our Learn to Ride Course!
This package includes one double length lesson (90 min) and one standard private lesson (45 min). In your first visit, we will tour the farm and learn all five of our level one horsemanship skill sets on the ground and in the saddle. Come back for your second lesson to practice and build confidence in your new skills!
Instruction is one-on-one and appropriate for both kids (7+) and adults.

Learn how horses greet each other and how they like to be greeted.
Learn the parts of the horse as you learn how to groom and care for them.
Reading the Horse
Regulation & Awareness
Learn basic horse body language and practice reading their eyes, nose, mouth and tail movements.
Learn about the equine energy scale and how interpret their behavior.
Leading the Horse
Communication & Organization
On the ground: learn how to position your body near the horse and how to modulate your breath and emotions.
In the saddle: learn the three basic positions of riding in halt and walk.
Speaking to the Horse
Education & Consistency
On the ground and in the saddle: learn how to ask the horse to move backwards, forwards and sideways.
Playing with the Horse
Integration & Creativity
On the ground and in the saddle: apply your new skills to a beginner obstacle course.
