Neurodiversity-Aware Horsemanship
The Friendship Program
Horses offer a high-challenge, high-reward experience that mirrors the dynamics of real-world relationships in a structured setting.
Through horsemanship, kids practice emotional regulation, communication, and executive functioning— all with the purpose of friendship with the horse.
The Program
Our goal is to provide a structured yet flexible opportunity for enrichment and skills practice that aligns with each child’s existing SLP, OT and IEP goals.
Families provide a list of current goals and challenges based on the assessments of the child’s team of providers (SLP, OT etc). Kate then designs an individualized curriculum of horsemanship activities that reinforce those same skills.
One hour private sessions, available in a series of four or seven sessions.
Connection-based groundwork and horse care activities, no riding.
Ideal for youth with Autism or ADHD who who can engage safely around horses with verbal guidance and thrive with movement, structure, and authentic connection.
Instructor
Kate Roosa, B.S. in Neuroscience with studies in experiential learning and professional in youth behavioral health — combines a deep understanding of brain and behavior with a gentle, practical horsemanship approach.
Getting Started
Every child’s journey is unique— we’ll start with a conversation!
Step 1. Discovery Call
Request a 20 min phone call with Kate to see if this program is a good fit for you and your child. If it feels like the right match, we’ll schedule an evaluation session and ask you to submit a New Student Form online.
Step 2. Evaluation Session ($150)
In this hour-long session, Kate will assess how horsemanship can best serve your child’s goals. It also gives you and your child an opportunity to meet Kate and the horses in person.
Step 4. Curriculum Summary
Following the evaluation, Kate will begin creating your child’s customized program and provide you with a curriculum summary to review.
Step 5. Schedule Sessions
Once you are ready to schedule your sessions, we’ll send you an invoice and find a spot in the schedule!
